Bulk Material Handler
Location: Shattuck, OK
Description: Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. •Load and unload materials onto or from railcars, trucks, bins, or bays. •Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area. •Secures lifting attachments to equipment, materials, commodities, and conveys materials to destination or signal crane, excavator to move load to destination. •Count, weigh, and record units or materials moved or handled on daily reports. •Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together. •Removes and collects samples of materials and labels with identifying information. •Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power assistance (loaders, forklifts, hoists), machines and equipment to assist machine operators. •Makes adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers. •Shovel loose material such as sand, grain, or fertilizer into hoppers, buckets, wheel barrels, or trucks. •Observes gauges and adjust valves, gates to maintain specified material flows and blends. •Operate heavy machinery needed to move bulk materials to or from truck or rail to other areas. •Position and secure trucks or rail cars into unloading or receiving position, open doors, start conveyors and elevators. •Positions spouts, chutes, and conveyors over trucks, rail cars, or bins to receive or unload materials. •Record rail car or truck identifying information such as weight, volume, drafts of materials loaded or unloaded. •Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment. •Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. •Make repairs and maintain physical structure of establishment. •Some structures being catwalks, expanded metal, and ladders of excessive heights. •Clean and maintain an orderly work area. •Work in atmospheres needing respiratory masks. •Obtain permits for hazardous job-as per supervisor.
Position Requires: The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and the ability to write simple instructions and reports. The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written or oral instructions.
