Survivor Turf Type Tall Fescue is a 3 way blend of turf type tall fescues that were developed for improved appearance over older tall fescues while retaining their ability to survive under heat and drought conditions, in poor soils, and under low maintenance.
ESTABLISHMENT SEEDING RATES: Overseeding existing turf: 4-6 lbs/1,000 sq. ft. New Turf: 8-10 lbs/1,000 sq.ft. Sports fields, parks and lawns: 7-10 lbs/1,000 sq. ft. Golf course roughs: 250-350 lbs/acre Sod production: 400-500 lbs/acre SOIL PREPARATION: Prepare a smooth firm seedbed free of foreign debris such as sticks and large clods.
PLANTING AND GERMINATION: Plant at 1/4 inch depth. The soil should be kept moist but not to the point where there is standing water. Under ideal conditions, germination should take place within 7-14 days.
FERTILITY AND MOWING: For optimum development the soil pH should be neutral but Survivor can tolerate moderately acidic or alkaline soils. Recommended rate of N (nitrogen) is 3-5 lbs per year/1,000 sq. ft. MOWING: Under ideal conditions, Survivor can tolerant mowing at 1.0 inch but the recommended mowing height is between 1.5 and 3.0 inches.
ADAPTATION:The extremely long root system is the secret to Survivor's drought tolerance. This means less frequent irrigation because the roots can reach as deep as six feet in the soil to absorb water. Survivor has exhibited excellent wear tolerance and very good cold tolerance and has excellent shade tolerance.
